Jo is my oldest friend. I met him by total accident when I lived in Buenos Aires, and we’ve had this amazing bond of friendship ever since. He lives in Oslo, Norway, and although I don’t get to see him that often, when it’s always the highlight of my life when we finally get to hang out. Jo met Dagfinn shortly after Skylar and I went to visit him in Norway last summer. I had FINALLY convinced Jo to come down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, and all of a sudden I get a text message telling me about this boy he had met and how he was going to Tel Aviv with him. I demanded photographs, and my phone was suddenly graced with this handsome, cheeky man with these kind, twinkly eyes. My phone literally became a happier electronic that day. I loved him instantly and demanded that he come to Mardi Gras as well.
Flash forward this past summer in Paris, and their wedding day that makes me tear up with joy every time I look at their photographs. It took me a while to get Jo, who’s shy by nature, to agree to let me take photographs for them. I finally put my foot down and told him that I’m going to be taking drunk photographs on my iPhone anyway, so I might as well just take them on my film camera so they look cooler. So, after a ceremony at the Norwegian embassy, a picnic and campaign in the park, wine, dinner and silly conversation, I went back home knowing that the world was a little bit brighter now that these two had found each other.
Jo and Dagfinn, I love you more than I can ever express in writing, words, or too tight hugs. I hope that these photographs give you a fraction of the happiness that you have given me <3
