Latrobe’s on Royal Wedding • New Orleans
When Paige first emailed me about photographing her and Dario’s Latrobe’s on Royal wedding, I knew we would instantly get along. She told me that her and her fiancé had been jokingly referring to their wedding as “Afro-futuristic bayou gothic” in response to the constant questions about what their wedding “theme” was. Now, looking back on it, she was pretty spot on with her description and I think that it was the perfect verbal vignette for their wedding. The dark earthy florals by Pistil and Stamen and the black candles from Luminous Events, were totally up my alley. They even had a neon to the “Dearly Beloved” sign… a neon PINK sign. I don’t think it could get any better than that! Oh, also, when Paige changed into her silver beaded/sparkle/tinsel reception dress, I just died of happy. Clearly, Paige is a girl after my own heart and I’m so happy that I got to photograph her and Dario’s Latrobe’s on Royal wedding!
As far as some fun details, Paige and Dario’s wedding ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church on Charters street. Then, Kinfolk Brass band lead their second line through the crazy beautiful streets of the French Quarter over to Latrobe’s on Royal for the reception. Latrobe’s is one of my favorite venues in New Orleans. The entire space has this secret speakeasy vibe, and seriously looks amazing in photographs. Brook and her team at Brook Casey Weddings did an awesome job of making everything look gorgeous, and keeping everything running smoothly. Speaking of amazing looking things, Dario’s grooms cake by Royal Cakery is literally a box of Popeye’s Chicken! It’s one of my favorite grooms cakes ever. As a side note, DJ RQ Away totally wins at dance parties. Anyway, here are some favorites!
