I love Norway. It’s this insanely beautiful place that makes you feel like you’re inside of a coffee table book. I’ve only been able to visit in the summer, but it’s literally bright sunlight at 11pm around then. It’s amazing… especially for a photographer! One of my best friends lives in Oslo and I’ve been waiting for another excuse to visit since I went there a few years ago. So, when Vesta asked me to be her wedding photographer, I freaked out a million and a half times. Seriously. Photographing an intimate destination wedding in Norway is literally on the top of my list of amazing things to do.
As far as wedding details, Vesta had an amazingly talented friend literally hand make her blue wedding dress. Yes, her friend HAND MADE her BLUE WEDDING DRESS! All of the hand sewn and beaded accents are beyond amazing in person. The ceremony was held at the historic Hvaler Church (Hvaler kirke) on Kirkeøy (Church island) which is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, churches in Norway. They had an intimate tented reception on the shore at the family owned Hvaler Resort, which is a quaint property within walking distance to the seaside town of Hvaler. I photographed some of their portraits in the Hvaler forest and those trees are something out of actual dreams. There was an epic brass band that came all the way from Sweden and they had a second line, New Orleans Style, from the church to the reception. It was such an amazing blend of tradition and I was totally honored to be a part of it! Anyway, here are some of my favorites!
